"
A different kind of drug problem"
The other day, someone at a store in our town read that a methamphetamine lab had been found in an old farmhouse in the adjoining county, and he asked me a rhetorical question: "Why didn't we have a drug problem when we were growing up?"
I replied, I had a drug problem when I was young.  I was drug to church on Sunday morning.  I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.  I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.  I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the preacher, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity.  I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flowerbeds.  I was drug to the homes of family, friends and neighbors to help out some poor soul who had no one to mow the yard, repair the clothesline, or chop some firewood, and, if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, she would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behavior in everything I do, say, or think.  they are stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin...and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, America would be a better place.
God bless the parents who drugged us!

Personality Bio
Hey, welcome to my page!
It seems like just yesterday that I pulled into the Champlain Valley for the first time in my 1979 Subaru, but that was over 20 years ago!  I am a Southern California transplant, having also lived in Northern California (North Lake Tahoe) and the Albany, New York area.  I don't think I could ever live anywhere flat and without a body of water!  I do love the seasons here.
And all the listeners I've come to know over the years...it's weird when a grown person walks up to me and tells me they started listening to me when they were just a kid!  (Hey, I'm not ready for those polyester pants with the elastic waist-band just yet...tell the AARP to GO AWAY!!!)
I have a crazy cat (who is very lovey when she wants to be but would probably take your arm off at the elbow if you messed with her.)  I'm constantly working on a project around the house, (usually 3 or 4 at once, which is probably not a productive way to do things, but hey, I get easily distracted!)  I snowboard and ski in the winter.  I just bought these cool skates called "Landrollers" so I'm learning how to stay upright on those.  Spring and fall are my favorite seasons...I like to garden a bit, go antiquing, travel (to Italy someday) and am addicted to HGTV.  I also love "Supernanny."  Which is rather odd since I never had kids of my own.  Go figure!
